Editing Your 3D Model: Orientation and Size

This guide shows you how to adjust the orientation and size of your 3D models in Byrst. Just click the "Model Edit" button for the model you want to change.

1. Getting the Right View

The first step is making sure your model is facing the right way. This is important for how it looks in thumbnails and in AR.

  • See Your Model: The "Front View" display shows you what your model currently looks like from the front.
  • Fixing the View: If your model is turned the wrong way, click "Reset Orientation." This will try to automatically fix it.

Important: Make sure your model looks straight. If it's tilted, it might not look right in AR.

2. Changing the Size

Next, you can adjust the size of your model.

  • See Your Model: The "Front View" display also shows you the model as you make it bigger or smaller.

  • Enter Dimensions: Type in the width, height, and depth you want for your model.

Locks (Controlling Proportions):

Byrst has "locks" to help you control how the dimensions change and maintain (or break) the model's proportions. Here's how they work:

  • Width/Height Lock (Master Lock): This single lock controls all three dimensions. This lock is particularly important for models created using the Object with Depth method, as these models often require adjustments to all axes.

    • Locked (closed padlock): Changing the width or height will automatically change the other one to keep the width/height proportions correct. The depth will also change to maintain proportions with the height. This is the recommended setting for Full Object Scan models, where preserving the original aspect ratio is crucial.
    • Unlocked (open padlock): You can change the width, height, and depth separately. This gives you complete control over all dimensions but also means you can easily distort the model's proportions.
  • Height/Depth Lock: This lock is only relevant if the Width/Height Lock (Master Lock) is locked. It's most commonly used with models created using the Flat Object method.

    • Locked (closed padlock, and Width/Height lock is also locked): Changing the height or depth will automatically change the other one to keep the height/depth proportions correct. The width will change to maintain proportions with height.
    • Unlocked (open padlock, and Width/Height Lock is also locked): You can change the height and depth separately. This will change the height/depth proportions and can distort the model. The width will change to maintain proportions with height.

3. Saving Your Changes

When you're happy with how your model looks, click "Confirm Changes" to save it.
